Industrial Output in Moldova Amounted to USD 2,8 bln in 2008
OREANDA-NEWS. January 28, 2009. As it was informed in the National Bureau of Statistics, in December 2008 industrial output in Moldova has decreased by 4.5%.
As NBS stated, the growth of industrial output in 2008 is due to the increased output in the food industry and production of beverages - by 10.4%.
The increase in industrial output contributed to the production of wine (26%), sugar (1,8 times), dairy products (6%), bread and bakery products ( 7.1%), as well as the chemical industry (by 15,4%), iron and steel industry (at 30,5%), enterprises involved in production, processing and canning of meat and meat products (at 3.8%), distilled alcohol beverages ( at 6,2%), production of cocoa, chocolate and confectionery products (7,9%), furniture (8%), leather products (33%).
In January-December 2008 the production of animal feed (by 24,7%), varnishes and paints (by 12,2%), drugs and pharmaceuticals (to 9.5%), production of timber and wooden products (13,4%).
At the same time, output has declined in production of clothing (by 14,9%), paper and cardboard (29,3%), beer (18,7%), tobacco (15,8%), production of concrete, plaster and cement ( 12,5%), machinery and equipment (by 13,2%), glass and articles thereof ( 2,6 %).
