OREANDA-NEWS. January 28, 2009. As it was informed in the National Bureau of Statistics, production of distilled alcohol beverages grew by 6.2% - up to 490.5 million leis (US 46.7 million).

It should be noted that in 2007 production of wine in Moldova has fallen by 29.5%. Production of the distilled alcohol beverages has declined by 22%, which was due to the ban imposed by Russia as of late March 2006.

Before this, Russia exported about 80% of the total export of Moldovan wines and cognacs.
