OREANDA-NEWS. January 28, 2009. A new TEMPUS project “MERCURY” was launched, the State Agency of Ukraine for Investments and Innovations is a sponsor-partner in it.

The Saarland University (Saarbrucken, Germany) has acquired a legal authority for a grant contract entitling to officially launch the project’s implementation and obtain the grant.

The first project meeting is scheduled for February 19-21, 2009 in Saarbrucken, Germany.

TEMPUS – is the European Commission program on cooperation in higher education on the European continent. The program aims at encouraging voluntary approaching to the European Union achievements in the sphere of high education resulted from implementation of the provisions of the Lisbon Strategy and implementation of measures of the Bologna Process.

The partners within the framework of TEMPUS are countries of the Western Balkan region, Eastern Europe and Middle Asia, Northern America and the Middle East.

The program provides the financing of projects developed on institutional cooperation, connected with the development of educational programs and innovations, management and administration, structural reforms in the sphere of high education.

Implementation of the fourth stage of TEMPUS program is running from 2007 to 2013.
