OREANDA-NEWS. January 27, 2009. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) has analyzed competitive environment on the market of apatite concentrate in 2007-2008, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

FAS Russia completed market analysis as part of investigating the antimonopoly case, initiated against the group of persons, including "EuroChem" Mineral and Chemical Company" OJSC and "Kovdorsky Mining-and-Processing Integrated Works" OJSC.

Analysis of the trade flows of apatite concentrate shows that the main suppliers of the goods to different regions of the Russian Federation are "Apatit" OJSC and "Kovdorsky Mining-and-Processing Integrated Works" OJSC.

Combined share of the two economic entities on the market in question exceeds 50%.

The impact of foreign producers on the competitive environment on the Russian domestic market is insignificant due to small volume of import of phosphate raw materials to the Russian Federation.

Market analysis shows that depending on the available technological equipment, consumers of apatite concentrate can completely substitute the products of the two companies or substitute it partially by mixing apatite concentrates with various qualitative indicators. There are also several enterprises that cannot organize the described substitution.

FAS Russia will exercise the antimonopoly control of economic activity of the market participants with due account for the revealed characteristics of the market of apatite concentrate in the Russian Federation.
