Russian-Ukrainian “Shelter” Consortium Gets Contract
OREANDA-NEWS. January 28, 2009. Russian-Ukrainian “Shelter” Consortium, led by Atomstroyexport CJSC, has got a contract for construction of fire protection system of Shelter facility of Chernobyl NPP.
Atomstroyexport OJSC was notified by the tender committee of Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (Ukraine) that Russian-Ukrainian “Shelter” Consortium, led by Atomstroyexport, has won the right to build the fire protection system of the Shelter facility of Chernobyl NPP.
This contract is part of the SIP project (Shelter Implementation Plan) financed by the Chernobyl Shelter Fund managed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The contract is aimed at enhancing the fire safety of the Shelter facility, preventing potential fire risks and creating an efficient fire fighting system.
The Consortium is supposed to carry out the following operations:
— installing automatic fire alarm system
— installing automatic fire fighting system
— installing ventilation system
— installing fire barriers
— demolishing inoperative air ducts, cables and other outdated equipment, removing combustible materials
— starting up the system
— training personnel
The parties will shortly start pre-contract consultations. The contract is expected to be signed in the first quarter of 2009.
