Volga-Dnepr Offers New Transportation Plan
OREANDA-NEWS. On 28 January 2009 was announced, that a very advantageous was recently designed and implemented by Volga-Dnepr’s Sales Center. Through connecting two charter flights of Boeing 747s and brilliant organization of cargo delivery and handling, it was possible to minimize number of ferry flights thus reducing operation costs, and to obtain a contract for a long series of similar operations.
The carriage was accomplished on 12 January, a flight of Boeing 747 delivered metal structures for communications towers from Toronto (Canada) – N’Djamena (Republic of Chad). Specifically for that operation, a joint team of ABC technicians and representatives of Customer - Skylink Aviation – designed a loading chart that allowed complete use of aircraft cargo space. As a result, maximum possible number of boxes could be accommodated inside the aircraft, with total cargo weight of 95 tons. Despite the fact that preparation stage of the operation fell within Russian Christmas Holidays, it was completed strictly as scheduled.
Staff of both Volga-Dnepr Airlines and AirBridgeCargo was involved in organization of the carriage. The shipper and the consignee thanked personnel of the Group of Companies for expediency and quality of service. On 21 January, the Customer and Volga-Dnepr signed a contract for five more similar carriages. Three flights would be operated from Toronto to N’Djamena, and two from Amsterdam – N’Djamena.
