Russian NPPs Are Biggest Tax Payers of Their Regions
OREANDA-NEWS. January 26, 2009. Energoatom Concern has summed up the results of its tax payments to regional and local budgets in 2008.
In some regions nuclear power plants are the biggest tax payers and ensure the greater parts of the revenues of their local budgets.
In 2008 Kalinin NPP (Udomlia) paid more taxes than the other Russian nuclear power plants – 1,348,085,000 RUR (1,270,495,000 RUR to the regional budget). Thus, the tax payments of the plant made up 4.5% of the total revenues of Tver region.
Leningrad NPP paid 1,100,991,000 RUR – almost 4% of the incomes of Leningrad region and over 7% of the profit tax payments of the regional companies.
Kursk NPP (Kurchatov) paid 867,948,000 RUR to the regional and local budgets – over 4% of the total tax payments in Kursk region.
In 2008 Balakovo NPP (Balakovo) paid 775,138,000 RUR, Smolensk NPP (Desnogorsk) — 725,339,000 RUR, Kola NPP (Polyarnye Zori) — 661,629,000 RUR.
In 2008 the 10 operating NPPs and the 3 NPPs under construction of Energoatom Concern paid a total of 7,114,614,000 RUR and fully met their commitments to their host regions.
