OREANDA-NEWS. January 22, 2009. To ensure extra protection of clients` funds the Bank reminds valid card usage rules. Existing maximum day limits for cash withdrawal using payment cards (according to the card account currency), reported the press-centre of Latvijas Krajbanka:

for debit cards (Maestro, VISA Electron and Visa Chocolate) - 1000 LVL / 2000 USD/ 1500 EUR;

for credit cards (VISA Classic/Business, MasterCard Mass/Business) - 1500 LVL / 3000 USD/ 2000 EUR;

for exclusive cards (VISA Gold/Platinum, MasterCard Gold) - 2000 LVL / 4000 USD/ 3000 EUR.

It means that with one payment card a client can withdraw cash in the amount not exceeding the said sum. The said day limit does not refer to payments for purchases and services using payment cards, but only to cash withdrawal.

The client can change withdrawal limit for one day at his/her option up to 3000 LVL / 6000 USD / 4500 EUR, by calling the twenty-four hours line +371 709 20 20. The day limit increase for one day will be performed within an hour.

If the client wishes to determine bigger one day limit for cash withdrawal or to increase a total cash withdrawal limit for a definite term, then he/she has to write an application for change of limits and indicate the reason.  The application can be submitted at any client service centres of the bank or by using the distant account control systems. The client’s application for determination of a constant day limit over the standard amount will be reviewed within three working days and the day limit will be increased only after receiving accept from the responsible official of the bank.

The Financial and Capital Market commission and international card issuing organization in cooperation with Latvian banks determine the rules on payment card usage terms. The said maximum day limits for cash withdrawal using payment cards are valid since March 2006.
