Pava Reports on December 2008 Results
OREANDA-NEWS. On 22 January 2009 was announced, that for the largest grain processor of Siberia and the Far East – the PAVA company (www.apkhleb.ru) – December of the last year was a month of intensive work which is typical for that period, and it was marked by events defining the company’s future development prospects.
In particular, PAVA took part in the Russia and CIS Alternative Investment Forum, which was held on December 9-10 in Moscow. This forum was a venue for leading companies and large investors who discussed attractive and profitable categories of alternative assets, the most efficient investment strategies working in present-day environment. PAVA was represented by a delegation of three directors: Andrey Igoshin, PAVA President; Sergey Balaenkov, PAVA Chief Financial Officer and Galina Balaenkova, PAVA International Business Development and IR Director. During the event, they conducted a series of negotiations with potential investors as well as other companies of the agricultural sector.
In December, the Altay grain processor registered its new protein-enriched flour on 56 electronic marketplaces, which extended the company’s assortment that some of these portals already presented. This significantly increased the queries inflow regarding additional information on quality characteristics of the flour as well as its price.
PAVA mills (Achinsk, Rebrikha, Mikhailovsky) including Pankrushikha grain-receiving enterprise, accredited for storing state intervention grain, focused their activities on successful accomplishment of this task.
In 2008 grain market environment, PAVA signed contracts for wheat purchases with growers from Novosibirsk, Omsk, Orlov, Kursk regions, and a company from St. Petersburg.
A notable achievement was taking part in the competition “100 Best Russian Goods”. The high-grade baking flour under PAVA and Altay-Batyushka brands was submitted to the panel’s approval, and was named the best in Russia becoming the laureate of the competition. The company regards the award as a credit to the product quality, and is committed to justify it in the future.
At the end of last year, PAVA mills continued to increase production volumes which led to growth of shipments both in Russia and abroad.
As for PAVA farming enterprises – Selhozholding, Allac, Agrofirma Niva (the Altay Territory), Bulatovo and Bolsheuluiskoe (the Krasnoyarsk Territory) were working on completion of business plans for 2009. A special emphasis was placed on purchasing highly efficient machinery, introducing advanced farming techniques, developing crop rotation schemes with thorough approach to soils in every area. Overall, plans for 2009 are aimed at providing feedstock security for PAVA’s grain processing activities.
