The production of crude oil in Russia amounted to 488,105 thousand tons in 2008 or 99.3% versus the production in 2007 (-3.2 million tons). Rosneft and Tatneft Companies were the ones among the majors to complete the year with positive results, reported the press-centre of TATNEFT.

The production of the oil companies in the Republic of Tatarstan in 2008 amounted to 32,265,044 tons of crude oil or 101% versus the level of 2007. The independent oil companies produced 6,498,873 tons of crude oil exceeding the level of 2007 by 298,849 tons (104.8%).

OAO TATNEFT produced 25,766,171 tons of crude oil in 2008 surpassing the level of 2007 by 25,602 tons (100.1%) with the above-the-plan production amounting to 366,171 tons (101.4%).

The best results were achieved by NGDUs Elkhovneft (103,1%), Yamashneft (101,9%), Almetyevneft (101.7%). The amount of 24,759 746  tons of crude oil was delivered in compliance with the first quality group requirements.

Drilling
The information about the drilling activities for the period of 2008 is provided taking into account the operation of OOO Tatneft-Burenie Management Company for the first quarter and operation of the new entity OOO UK (Management Company) Tatburneft (starting April 1, 2008).

Of the total amount of 715 thousand meters drilled during 2008: 457 thousand meters were penetrated  for OAO TATNEFT including  407 thousand meters of production drilling and 50  thousand meters of exploratory drilling;  33 thousand meters for the affiliated companies of OAO TATNEFT, including 20 thousand meters of production drilling and 13 thousand meters of exploratory drilling; and 225 thousand meters for the joint ventures and independent oil companies, including 181  thousand meters of production drilling and 44 thousand meters of exploratory drilling.

484 wells were constructed and handed over to customers and out of this amount 300 wells were constructed for OAO Tatneft, including 268 production wells with a number of exploratory wells amounting to 32; 18 wells, including 13 production wells and 5 exploratory wells were drilled for the affiliated companies of OAO TATNEFT; 166 wells were constructed for the joint ventures and independent oil companies, including 139 production wells and 27 exploratory wells.

Then plan of drilling was fulfilled by 101% with regard to the planned operations volume for 2008.

Well drilling operations with application of traditional drilling techniques were performed by 47 drilling crews. Besides, one drilling crew performed underbalanced drilling of one well for NGDU Bavlyneft. Of this total number of the drilling crews one drilling crew performed drilling of five exploratory wells for OAO Podzemburgaz Company under the program of the Republic of Tatarstan for construction of the underground gas storage facility.

There were six drilling crews operating in the territory of the Samara District. Two exploratory wells were drilled in the Orenburg District for ZAO Tatneft-Severny. 90.2 thousand meters were penetrated in horizontal wells and multilaterals. 44 thousand meters were penetrated outside  the Republic of Tatarstan from the beginning of the year.

The penetration per one drilling crew amounted to 15,292 meters for the period of 12 months.

Workovers and EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery)
894 well remedial works were performed during December while 9,767 well remedial works have been performed from the beginning of the year.

42 well remedial works were performed at the licensed areas outside the Republic of Tatarstan.

2,689 wells were worked over during 2008 (258 wells in December) including the production string sealing in 405 wells; shutting-off individual layers and recompletion in other intervals in 329 wells; transfer of the wells into different categories and wells completion for injection in 148 wells; failure liquidation and cleaning of the electrical cable and bottom hole in 350 wells; physical well abandonment and re-abandonment in 72 wells.

710 wells were worked over with application of coil tubing (78 wells in December), including 177 wells worked over through the annulus (37 in December).

Formation hydrofracking operations were performed at 128 wells (16 wells in December). The cumulative incremental recovery amounted to 2 426 thousand tons.

22 small diameter wells were drilled and completed during 2008: 14 wells in NGDU Almetyevneft, 6 wells in NGDU Prikamneft  and 2 wells in NGDU Jalilneft.

Works on oil recovery enhancement were performed at 2,222 wells (176 wells in December) including the chemical treatment methods applied at 1,328 wells (107 wells in December).

The incremental oil production resulting from application of the enhanced oil recovery methods amounted to 5,173 thousand tons with the chemical methods accounting for the production of 2,471 thousand tons of crude oil.

ООО Tatneft-ChimService Company performed 2,643 operations for acid compositions preparation and delivery.

ООО Tatneft-ChimService Company produced 33 thousand 855 tons of chemicals for the amount  of 719 million rubles.
