TAEK Analyzes Atomstroyexport’s Commercial Offer
OREANDA-NEWS. January 20, 2009. Turkish Atomic Energy Authority (Turkiye Atom Enerjisi Kurumu, TAEK) started analyzing the commercial offer submitted by the Russian-Turkish Consortium comprising Atomstroyexport CJSC, Inter RAO UES and Park Teknik (Turkey) in the framework of the tender for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Turkey.
At the same time, the Consortium has submitted to TETAS (Turkish Electricity Trading and Contracting Company) a new commercial offer revised in line with the changes in the situation on the world market. The results of the analysis will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkey for final verdict.
The first nuclear power plant in Turkish is supposed to be built near the Mediterranean port of Mersin (Akkuyu). The Consortium proposes to build four WWER-1200 reactors under NPP-2006 project.
13 companies took part in the first stage in late Sept 2009 but the Russian-Turkish Consortium was the only bidder to submit all necessary documents in time.
For 1.5 months TAEK scrutinized the technical offer and on Dec 19 2008 ruled that the Russian offer complied with all international safety standards.
