OREANDA-NEWS. On 20 January 2009 was announced, that Sokolniki recreation park is to be provided with the underground car parks for 4,820 vehicles in 2 years to come, a source from Moscow City Hall said.

The official reminded that from 40,000 to 58,000 visitors could be in the park simultaneously, therefore the problem of parking was a vexed one.

“A design project of Sokolniki provides for building parking for visitors to the park with the total capacity of 4,280 vehicles, including the spaces for observation buses,” the source specified.

The underground car parks will be erected in the areas where the development doesn’t require the existent trees and shrubs be cut down.

The new parking facilities are to be located at the entrance to Sokolniki park.

The development is scheduled to be carried out from 2009 to 2010.
