Lithuanian Senukai Offers to Build Trading Centres in Belarus
OREANDA-NEWS. On January 15, 2009 The Senukai Company (Lithuania) offered Belarus to build special-purpose trading centres for sales of construction materials and domestic appliances. The issue was raised at a meeting between Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky and representatives of the Rauta Kesko, Senukai and OMA companies, reported the Official website www.government.by.
According to Sergei Sidorsky, Senukai confirmed its interest in the further development of its business in Belarus at the Investment Forum in London.
“The Finnish company Kesko (it holds the control stock in Senukai) is known as the owner of a network of trading centres for sales of construction materials and domestic appliances in Russia, Scandinavia and Baltic states. The company’s annual turnover reaches EUR10 billion. The Senukai Company holds Lithuania’s largest trading network of sales of construction, decoration materials, electric household goods,” Sergei Sidorsky said.
The Lithuanian company has its representative office in Belarus which trading turnover makes up EUR 5 million. According to the Premier, these figures do not meet the potential of the bilateral cooperation.
Senukai’s plans to construct special-purpose trading centres in Belarus are supposed to be implemented taking into account the following major points: the trading networks should display a wide assortment of construction materials, domestic appliances and, “what is very important, Belarusian products”, Sergei Sidorsky said. Besides, Belarusian goods will be sold via the company’s network in Finland, Lithuania and Latvia. “We are deeply interested in the exchange of goods,” the Prime Minister said.
Senukai President Augustinas Rakauskas stressed that the Lithuanian company had been studying the possibilities of expanding its presence in Belarus.
Senukai accounts for more than 25% of the Lithuanian market of construction materials and household appliances. The company’s retail trading network embraces 91 trading centres worldwide. The total area of the trading network makes up 230,000 square metres, the lineup includes almost 140,000 descriptions.
Senukai is engaged in the wholesale trade as well. The company has an efficient logistics system: warehouses (nearly 100,000 square metres), transportation management, railways, customs stations. Annually the company provides services to nearly 15,000 wholesale clients and companies. Senukai exports its products to Russia and other CIS countries, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Spain, Ireland. Cargo hauls is another area of the company’s activity.
Senukai’s partner in Belarus is the OMA Company founded in 1992. The company sells construction materials and instruments, domestic goods. The Lithuanian investor holds the controlling stake in OMA.
