OREANDA-NEWS. On January 15, 2009 Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko has commissioned the leaders of regions to check up accountancy of wage payment and other social payments to employees of the budget institutions.

Such commission was formulated by the Prime Minister during a meeting with governors and mayors of regional centers on issues of opposing the global financial crisis.

“If somewhere one kopeck at least is not paid – this is a case of emergency, requiring to be solved at the level of heads of regional state administrations, regional councils and the Government,” the Prime Minister stressed.

Yulia Tymoshenko noted, for example, only Chernihiv region has UAH 2 million of arrears to employees of the budget sphere. According to Yulia Tymoshenko, the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Lviv regions and the city of Kyiv have a negative situation with paying off arrears of wage.

The Ukrainian Prime Minister urged regional heads to pay off arrears at the cost of balances of means of the last year local budgets. According to her, the sum of such balances amounts UAH 5.9 billion, “this is your resource, project it, spend, consume. It means, there will be no grounds not to pay social payments”.
