OREANDA-NEWS. On 14 January 2009 was announced, that the Gas War between Russia and Ukraine has brought a stop to fertilizer production in Ukraine. On January 12, 2009 production at Odessa Portside Plant, Severodonetsk Azot, Stirol Corp. < STIR UZ BUY >, Cherkasy Azot < AZOT UZ NR >, Dniproazot < DNAZ UZ NR >, Rivneazot < RAZT UZ NR >, Sumykhimprom and others was stopped. Despite the normal pre-spring growing cycle demand for fertilizers production was stopped because the current gas limits not only do not enable maintaining of the production process but can also potentially cause dangerous industrial accidents, said Mr. Sevactianov, the deputy of Director of Odessa Portside Plant.
