Belarus Lifts Requirement to Export Matches, Wood Veneer via Exchange
OREANDA-NEWS. On 12 January 2009 was announced, that the Belarusian government plans to suspend the requirement to export matches, wood veneer, chip boards and MDF fiberboard only via the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange and abolish mandatory registration of transactions with these commodities, a source in the administration said.
The decision is part of the set of measures to secure a stable work of Belarus’ real economy.
Other measures include reduced gas, heat and electric power tariffs for large producers, temporary zero-rated customs duties on some components and raw materials that are not produced in Belarus or produced insufficiently, etc.
It is also planned to provide interest-free tax credits to companies that face difficulties with export sales. It is also planned to revise dwelling output targets for smaller settlements, in order to build only for those requiring improved housing conditions.
