Gomselmash Doubles Exports in 2008
OREANDA-NEWS. January 09, 2009. In 2008 the Gomselmash Production Association increased exports 2.1 times, or by almost US210 million. For the first time the exports surpassed the amount of the government procurement contract, it was learnt from the Gomselmash marketing centre.
According to specialists, the increase in exports can be attributed to the more efficient work of the commodity distribution network, trading houses Gomselmash-Siberia and Gomselmash-South, dealer centres. Efficient aftersale services have also played a big role in this.
Main sales markets are Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. Joint assembly facilities of Belarusian combine harvesters have been set up in these countries. In 2008 Gomselmash also exported its products to Argentine, China, the Czech Republic, Iran and the Baltic states.
In 2008, the industrial output of the company increased by 35% as against 2007. Gomselmash created 1,800 new jobs.
The administration of the company does not exclude that in 2009 the purchasing power and credit possibilities of the partners from the neighbouring countries will be lower because of the global financial crisis. Nevertheless, Gomselmash intends to meet its goal to raise the wages to US1,000 by 2010. “We should accomplish this task by means of better labour productivity and reduction of expenses,” Director General of Gomselmash Valery Zhmailik said.
