AMCU Institutes Proceedings against Airport Operators
OREANDA-NEWS. On December 29, 2008 The Antimonopoly Committee has instituted proceedings against airport operators of Lviv, Odesa, Simferopol and Boryspil public enterprise for overpricing aviation fuel.
As the Antimonopoly Committee cleared up, the operators keep up the aviation fuel price at the level which contradicts the world tendencies of fuel price reduction. Fuel price in the mentioned Ukrainian airports is higher than in the biggest airports of the world.
In particular, in airports of New York and Hamburg the aviation fuel prices have been gradually reduced during August-October this year. At the same time, for example, Boryspil airport began to reduce aviation fuel prices only since September and airports of Simferopol and Odesa – since October. At that, price reduction as against the world was not essential.
“We view in such gamblers’ actions of the domestic aviation fuel market the signs of violation of the monopoly situation. Our next step is aimed at defining the subjects of economical activity participating in violations and instituting proceedings against them. Final goal is to reduce aviation fuel prices adequately complying with the world tendencies,” acting Head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine Oleksandr Melnychenko said.
