OREANDA-NEWS. December 29, 2008. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) fined the group of persons including "Gazprom" OJSC and "Gazprom dobycha Orenburg" Ltd. 9 908 184. 39 Rubles under Article 14.31 of the Code of the Russian Federation "On Administrative Violations" for abusing dominant position on the market, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The case was initiated upon a petition of several Russian consumers of block sulfur.

The group of persons "Gazprom" OJSC and "Gazprom dobycha Orenburg" Ltd. violated the antimonopoly legislation by fixing monopolistically prices for granulated block sulfur.

Part 1 Article 10 of the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition" prohibits actions (lack of actions) of an economic entity, which has dominant position on the market, that result in preventing, restricting or eliminating competition and (or) infringing the interest of other persons.

FAS Russia found that the group of persons "Gazprom" OJSC and " Gazprom dobycha Orenburg" Ltd. violated Clause 1 Part 1 Article 10 of the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition" and imposed administrative charges upon the companies.
