Proton-M with Three Glonass-M Satellites Successfully Lifts Off
OREANDA-NEWS. On December 25, 2008 at 13:43 Moscow time, Roscosmos expert groups successfully launched Proton-M rocket (Khrunichev Space Center) with DM Upper Stage (RSC-Energia) and three Glonass-M satellites (Reshetnev Informational Satellite Systems). The launch vehicle lifted off from site 81.
The orbital assembly reached the orbit at 13:53 Moscow time. At 17:15, the satellites separated from the upper stage and began autonomous mission. This information was provided by the Real-Time Engineering Monitoring Center of the TSENKI federal company.
TSENKI experts provided overall coordination of the prelaunch and launch operations; supervision for the activities in Roscosmos premises at the space port, starting from acceptance of the components which had been delivered to Baikonur; shipment and storage of the rocket propellant components and pressurized gases for Proton-M and DM. They also carried out EMC tests for Proton-M/Baikonur electronic systems, provided meteo-monitoring data to the State Board.
Coordination of the operations which cover search, evacuation and disposal of the rocket fragments (stage 1 and fairing), as well as ecological monitoring in the areas impacted by the falling fragments, is one of the main branches in TSENKI activities.
