OREANDA-NEWS. December 26, 2008.  Azerbaijan Republic Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies registers stable growth of global network users in the country.

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov said currently number of internet users in the country has reached 1.5 million people.

“Recently the volume of internet resources and virtual space has grown 20 fold,” Abbasov said.

Minister noted that the sector of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) is the largest taxpayer after oil sector.

“During recent five years ICT growth made 33-35%, while as a whole this field has grown 4.5 fold,” Abbasov emphasized.
