OREANDA-NEWS. On December 22, 2008 Kazakhtelecom (Astana), shares of which are traded in Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) official list, provided to KASE the information message that from January 2009, the company starts the phased in changing of dialing numbers of emergency and I&R services. Numbers starting with "0" will start with "1" in compliance with the international standards, reported the press-centre of KASE.

This action will be implemented to bring the numbering plan into line with the international standards and implementation of the Agreement between the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Informatization and Communication and the Ministry of the Russian Federation on Information Technologies and Communication on using of the 7th world numbering zone numeration.

The dialing numbers will be changed in a phased in manner, given this, the previous numbers will be taken out of service gradually.

The parallel functioning of new and old numbers of emergency and I&R services will be available till June 15, 2009, after which old numbers will be removed of service.
