OREANDA-NEWS. On December 19, 2008 A new joint venture with "General Motors" was established in Uzbekistan to produce car engines. The construction of a new factory of "General Motors Powertrain Uzbekistan" will be started, reported the Official website www.gov.uz.

General Motors Corporation and "Uzavtosanoat" company announced about a joint venture and the beginning of construction of a plant to produce car engines for the domestic market and to export outside the country.

The main product of GM Powertrain Uzbekistan will be car engines of 1, 1.2, 1.4 and 1.5 liters. The plant will have the capacity to produce 360 thousand car engines a year.

The new company plans to create 1200 new jobs, along with rising employment will contribute to further growth in output of cars in Asaka car plant.
