Vyborg Shipyard Finished Deck Platform CS 50 MkII Ahead of Schedule
OREANDA-NEWS. December 22, 2008. Construction of the multi-purpose bare deck platform CS 50 MkII ordered by SEA HORSE VENTURES from Switzerland for the English company SEA DRAGON was successfully completed at Vyborg Shipyard. The platform is of catamaran type with two pontoons and six stabilizing columns supporting the upper hull.
Design of the platform ensures the maximum functional flexibility for different options of fitting out of the upper deck depending on the ultimate purpose: exploration and drilling; production, crane or accommodation platform. On bare deck there can be installed topside weight up to 20 000t. Under bare deck there are fully equipped spaces and tanks for ballast water, diesel oil, special fluids for drilling operations and pump rooms. All systems are installed and tested, cables and electrical equipment is checked.
The shipbuilding contract for the platform was signed in March 2007, based on the contract schedule the platform was supposed to be handed over to SEA DRAGON in June 2009. On request of the Customer construction of the platform was conducted ahead of schedule and the result was that the platform was ready for delivery six months before the contract date.
