OREANDA-NEWS. On 22 December 2008 was announced, that on the previous Monday the new Independence Palace has seen the grand meeting of the management and community of he state with the precipitance of the head of the state Nursultan Nazarbaev.this was dedicated to the 17th anniversary of the independence of Kazakhstan.

On December 16 the legislative body of that period – the Supreme council adopted the law about independence and national sovereignty of the republic of Kazakhstan. The state was the last one from the USSR to pass this law. According to the tradition all the regions of the state will see the mass festive actions.

Independence Day is the major state holiday of the republic, and 16-17 December is week-end.
