OREANDA-NEWS. December 19, 2008. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) took the side of "Tverskaya Energosbutovaya Kompania" OJSC - a participant of the wholesale market of electric energy in its dispute with "MRSK Tsentr" OJSC - a natural monopoly holder, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The FAS Russia's Commission recognized that "MRSK Tsentr" OJSC violated Clauses 5 and 9 Part 1 Article 10 of the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition".

"MRSK Tsentr" OJSC violated the law by evading from signing the contract for transmitting electrical energy with "Tverskaya Energosbutovaya Kompania" OJSC, as well as creating obstacles for the company's entry to the wholesale market of electrical energy.

FAS Russia issued a determination to "MRSK Tsentr" OJSC to stop the antimonopoly violations.

Currently FAS Russia is conducting an administrative investigation. Under Article 14.31 of the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Violations, the sanctions for "MRSK Tsentr" OJSC can be 1 - 15% of the company's turnover for the services of transmitting electrical energy in the calendar year preceding the year when the violations was committed on the above market.
