Izmaylovo Stadium (Moscow) to Undergo Reconstruction
OREANDA-NEWS On 19 December was announced, that the public council for urban development of Moscow decided to reconstruct Izmaylovo stadium at a session on December 17.
According to Aleksandr Kuzmin, Head Architect of Moscow, the stadium to host international football and rugby matches as well as track and field events designed to accommodate roughly 13,500 spectators is to be raised on the basis of Izmaylovo stadium.
Besides the stadium itself, a field and stands, it is also decided to build a hotel for sportsmen and a recreation centre nearby.
“The stadium is designed to comprise also a car park for 908 vehicles that meets the standard requirements,” Mr Kuzmin added.
Nikolay Evtikhiev, Prefect of the Eastern Administrative District of Moscow, noted that the stadium was included in the project aimed at designing the area which was also occupied by Izmaylovo Park.
Moscow City Mayor Yuri Luzhkov suggested approving the reconstruction project of the stadium that provides for arranging parking lots for visitors not only to the stadium but to the park as well.
The total area of the building plot is almost 14 ha, the area of the sports complex is estimated to be 120,000 sq m, including a 62,500sq m superstructure and a 57,500sq m substructure. The underground garages are designed to have 980 parking places.
