OREANDA-NEWS. On December 17, 2008 The State Committee for Industrial Safety, Labour Protection and Mountain Supervision has endorsed a decision to ban coordinating of blueprints of the development of mining works by mines on the outlets of which the facts of unauthorized extraction of coal were fixed. The Head of State Committee for Industrial Safety, Labour Protection and Mountain Supervision Serhii Storchak announced during a meeting in Luhansk territorial department.

December 15, 2008 the Head of the State Committee for Industrial Safety attended Luhansk region with an official visit. During his stay he took part in the work of a regional meeting which concerned the issues of social-economic and ecological problems of mining towns and villages of Luhansk region which suffered in the result of liquidation of coal enterprises and held a working meeting with specialists of Luhansk territorial department.

“Resonant group accidents which occurred recently on illegal mines give concern on the part of State Committee for Industrial Safety, Labour Protection and Mountain Supervision,” Serhii Storchak announced during the meeting with specialists of the territorial department. As a state institution we cannot remain aloof from burning issues of death of miners. According to the statistics Luhansk region possesses over a thousand of so-called “black mines”.

The economic downturn which ripples through the country promotes illegal extraction. Besides, only within the recent time 7 pitmen died in Luhansk region. That’s why inspections on conservation supervision, geologic-surveyor control and processing of minerals were empowered to establish control over coal storages of mines and in case the facts of supply of coal by organizations which illegally use the depths to the coal storages of the mines, the material ought to be forwarded to the law enforcement bodies”.

The event resulted into adopting of a decision to activate work with general prosecutor and state ecological inspections in the part of information exchange concerning the facts of authorized use of mineral resources. In addition, inspection in energy domain was commissioned to hold respective preventive measures in revealing the facts of illegal connection to the electric networks of objects which illegally use the depths and to inform law enforcement bodies about the cases.
