OREANDA-NEWS  On 18 December was announced, that Baltika Breweries dispatched its first shipment of Baltika № 0 Nonalcoholic beer to Libya. More than 28,000 liters of "zero" in 0.5 litre bottles left the Novorossisk sea port bound for the Libyan port of Misuratah in mid-December.

The selection of Baltika № 0 may be explained by the fact that sale of alcohol is prohibited in Libya. Baltika beer will be distributed in the principal large cities of Libya: Tripoli, Benghazi, Misurata and Tobruk. The product will be positioned in the premium price segment. The retail price for a 0.5 litre bottle will come to USD 1-USD 1.20. The official exporter and distributor of Baltika beer in Libya is the company Garza for Import and Export.

Soslan Kulchiev, Baltika Breweries Sales Manager for the Countries of Africa, the Near East and the Baltic States: ‘We hope that Baltika № 0 beer will be met with interest in Libya and will become a splendid alternative to the traditional beverages to quench thirst. For Baltika, this is an excellent possibility to strengthen its position on the African continent. One should recall that our company already delivers beer to Tanzania, the Côte d’Ivoire and Kenya.’

Libya is located in North Africa. In the North, its shores are washed by the Mediterranean Sea. In the East, it borders with Egypt; in the South-East, with Sudan; in the South, with Chad; in the West, with Algeria; and in the North-West, with Tunisia. Its capital is Tripoli. Although in terms of surface area Libya is one of the biggest countries in Africa, its population is only around 6 million. A large part of the territory of the country is desert. Thanks to the operation of rich petroleum resources that began in 1961, Libya was turned into a flourishing state with the highest income per capita in Africa.
