OREANDA-NEWS. December 17, 2008. A conference on establishment of commercial production of vibropac MOX – fuel for BN-800 and BN-600 (fast-breeder) reactors — is being held at Sverd, Yekaterinburg, Dec 16–18 2008.

Representatives of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation, Atomenergoprom OJSC, Energoatom Concern OJSC, TVEL OJSC, NIIAR, VNIPIET, Mining Chemical Combine, Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrate Plant, IPE, Sverd.

The development of equipment for production of MOX fuel and its use at BN-600 and BN-800 reactors is supposed to ensure transition to new spent nuclear fuel processing technologies and use of pyro-electrochemical processes for re-fabrication of new fuel.

The conferees are discussing the technological scheme of production of granulated MOX fuel, the design of relevant equipment, layout solutions, technical solutions for specific systems and units, types of technological equipment.
