OREANDA-NEWS. On December 15, 2008 Uzbekistan organized a practical seminar on recent decrees and resolutions of the Uzbek president on increasing capitalization and improving financial sustainability of enterprises of real sector of economy, strengthening their investment activity and protection of banking deposits of population.

Representatives of Central Bank, Banking Association and commercial banks of Uzbekistan participated at the event.

Participants noted that these decisions are directed to increase confidence of population to banking system and reform banking system, as well as strengthening banks role in financial stabilization of enterprises of real sector.

Uzbek President Islam Karimov signed a decree "On measures on further improvement of financial sustainability of enterprises of real sector of economy" from 18 November and "On additional measures on ensuring protection of deposits of citizens in commercial banks of Uzbekistan" dated 28 November 2008.
