OREANDA-NEWS. On December 12, 2008 Mr. Tye Winston Burt is another candidate to have withdrawn his consent to stand for election to the Board of Directors of OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel (“MMC Norilsk Nickel” or “the Company”), reported the press-centre of Norilsk Nickel.

In his letter to Chairman of the Board of Directors Vladimir Potanin and General Director Vladimir Strzhalkovsky, Mr. Burt explained that he had made the decision in light of recent developments and expressed his interest in cooperation with the Company in the future.

Earlier Mr. Luca Cordero di Montezemolo withdrew his candidacy from the list of nominees to the Board of Directors of MMC Norilsk Nickel.

Both candidates met independency criteria set out in the Charter of MMC Norilsk Nickel and were nominated by UC RUSAL.
