OREANDA-NEWS. December 10, 2008. Winners’ award of Russian show-competition, “Leader of Russian environmental activity - 2008”, took place in State Kremlin Palace, reported the press-centre of AVISMA.

The competition was conducted under the IV Russian conference “New preferences of the national environmental policy within real economy sector” with the help of the Russian Federation government, the Federation Council, State Duma, regional authority heads, Russian Academy of Sciences, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, higher core educational institutions, leading public environmental organizations.

These forums of Russian ecologists are held annually and became tradition. Due to the activity with regard to environmental protection, conference Organizing committee decided to give AVISMA the title “Leader of environmental activity in Russia – 2008”. Almost 2 thousand of Russian enterprises took part in this competition, but the work of only 50 enterprises was marked with honorable diplomas.

AVISMA became one of the leaders the fourth time already, and AVISMA is worth it. AVISMA provided more than 100mln rubles during this year for the fourth line of waste treatment plant building and for modernization of the landfill for production and consumption residuals. When building of waste treatment plants is finished, the municipal industrial channel will not be silted any more, and practically soft flows will get in Kama. Modernization of the landfill will allow to protect Kama basin from infiltration water.

- These projects are very important for environmental protection; their realization will be to the advantage of environment. Therefore we submitted these projects for ministry of natural resources in order to participate in the competition for the best environmental project of the year.

By the way, interregional public organization – “Independent social environmental initiation”, issued results of the rating “Environmental liability of the largest Russian industrial facilities” two years ago.

AVISMA was among enterprises with a high level of environmental liability. It took the fourth place.

Environmental activity is subject to the specified AVISMA “Environmental policy” which is constantly updated. The latest specified and more updated version from the viewpoint of liability and technical efficiency was approved by AVISMA in November 5, 2008. Being aware of the liability for Berezniki and Perm region environment, AVISMA authorities set the object – to reduce negative influence on the environment to a minimum when titanium and magnesium manufacture.

General provisions of “Environmental policy” include the following important issues of AVISMA activity:

- compliance with judicial requirements of Russian legislation for environment protection;

- reduction of air and water body pollution due to implementation and improvement of facilities for fume and waste water cleaning;

- maximal scrap recovery;

- gradual reduction of consumable natural resources;

- visibility of environmental activity due to general informing company’s employees, its partners and the public at large about AVISMA environmental activity and its results.

Management systems, based on the International standards – ISO14001 and ISO9001, are main tools for improvement the company’s environmental activity.
