Putin Visited GAZ Group Diesel Engine Plant
OREANDA-NEWS On 10 December was announced, that Vladimir Putin visited GAZ Group diesel engine plant as part of his visit to Yaroslavl Oblast. Members of the government delegation have examined assembly line and testing shops for V-shaped engines for Russian and Belarus autobuses, commercial and cargo vehicles. The Prime Minister also reviewed the project to produce Russia's first medium-size diesel engines that would meet Euro 4 emission standards and be competitive internationally.
Discussing the prospects of this project, the Prime Minister stressed that "Planned modernization should lead to productivity growth. That's the point. Of course, it should result in noticeable improvements in engine and automobile manufacturing. In fact, a new and modern plant, capable of producing a new generation of engines, should be built. Implementation of this project will create 1,200 additional jobs in Yaroslavl Oblast. The state institutions should provide assistance to the new plant, and substitute financing that has become unavailable as a result of the global economic crisis. Obviously, we expect that your enterprise will be able to use these funds efficiently and ensure manufacturing of products that are competitive and meet the market demand".
Group GAZ project of diesel engines manufacturing is implemented consistent to the state environmental safety policy for transport vehicles. Euro-4 international environmental standards will be implemented in Russia from January 1, 2009. The plant being currently built in Yaroslavl by GAZ Group, is the only Russian enterprise capable of producing Euro-4 standard diesel engines meeting all the highest technical and safety requirements.
