Vimpelcom Launches 3G Network in Uzbekistan
OREANDA-NEWS. On December 04, 2008 Huawei Technologies said that Vimpelcom launched a new generation (3G) network in Uzbekistan and started to render broadband Internet on the bases of 3G network. The network covers Tashkent and central districts of the Uzbek capital city.
Vimpelcom's 3G network in Uzbekistan was built on Huawei equipment. Infrastructure of operator in the region comprises of DBS Huawei base stations. Huawei said that use of DBS Huawei base stations helps to save space, electricity and installation expanses and helps to improve coverage area.
Huawei also used another innovative product – controller of base station – which will help to effectiveness of network infrastructure of operator for several times.
Currently, Vimpelcom offers broadband Internet with the speed of 3.6 Mbit/s and video call services.
Dun Gan, vice president of regional branch of Huawei Technologies on CIS, said: "We are proud that Vimpelcom selected our equipment to build 3G network not only in Russian, but also in Uzbekistan. Thanks to realization of these projects, subscribers now can assess advantages of 3G services, rendered under Beeline trademark."
