The Ministry of Economic Development forecasts 2008 manufacturing growth at 1.9%, a source at one of the relevant ministries and agencies said quoting the latest working forecast made by the ministry. This means expectations of a slump in industrial output in annual terms in November and December 2008, while in the first ten months of 2008, according to RosStat, industrial output grew 4.9% y-o-y. The previous forecast for 2008 manufacturing growth, approved by the Cabinet in August, was 5.2%.
