OREANDA-NEWS. December 08, 2008. In Odesa marine trade port a workgroup in realization of the project of Odesa-Kazakhstan-Central Asia-China container train is set up.

Appeal of the new service for the cargo owners lays in the fact that it enables to significantly shorten the time of conveyance of goods from China to Europe. The railway route extending for over 3 thousand of kilometers connects six countries (Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and China).

Preliminary monitoring of the market demonstrated an interest of potential clients in conveyance from Odesa and Illichivsk ports by container trains in the direction of Central Asia of automotive gears, automobiles, foodstuffs and other goods from Turkey, Syria, Israel and Egypt.

An initiative to connect with the direct railway service the coast of the Black Sea and the foothills of Tyan-Shan mountain range belongs to the national railway department of Kazakhstan “Kazakstan Temir Zholy”. The head of the representative office of joint stock company in the European states, CIS and Baltic states Rakhmetolla Kudaibergenov came to Odesa to discuss the project with leadership of the port and operators of the container terminals.

Operators of container terminals GPK-Ukraine, MetalsUkraine and Brooklyn-Kyiv-port which took part in the negotiations have expressed their concern in realization of the initiative of Kazak railmen.
