OREANDA-NEWS. On December 05, 2008 A meeting of the Council of trade unions of railroad workers and transport builders dedicated to the discussion of financial economic situation on the railway and defining measures to stabilize it and ensure social protection of employees was held.

The Council’s participants have expressed their concern with significant decrease of amounts of cargo transportations, especially of mining, chemical and building production, shortening of working hours in all structure subdivisions and are worried with a possibility to reduce optimization of the number of workers which would lead to intensifying of labour, outrage the conditions of labour and rest.

In this connection the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Volodymyr Badagov announced the Ministry pays every effort to find the way out of the crisis with minimal losses.

“In this complicated economic situation we have to ensure efficiency of the railroad complex and to preserve its labour collective and capacities,” Volodymyr Badagov underlined.
