OREANDA-NEWS  On 05 December OMZ OJSC (Uralmash-Izhora Group) (RTS: OMZZ; LSE: OMZD; OTC: UHMVY) announced that it ranked 11 th among Russia’s 100 Most Environmentally Efficient and Socially Responsible Companies issued by NERA, an independent environmental rating agency.

The agency’s experts evaluated 100 biggest Russian companies and almost 3,000 other Russian companies. The environmental rankings were based on five objective criteria including level of transparency of a company’s environmental reporting, volume of waste, water and air emissions, annual environmental expenditure per employee, and also rate of reduction of environmental impacts.

Notably, OMZ’s ranking in terms of environmental transparency has risen by 19 points in comparison with the 2007 ranking.

The ranking of Russian companies’ social and environmental responsibilities is designed to inform the public, Russian authorities and the business community of the environmental situation.
