TRANSSTROY Completed 4.2 km Section of Sochi Diversion Road
OREANDA-NEWS On 05 December was announced, that transstroy company, a part of Basic Element's Construction Sector, completed the construction of a 4.2 km section of Sochi Diversion Road, the first element of 2014 Winter Olympics transportation infrastructure.
"We are happy that Sochi residents will see the benefits of the new section of the Road before the end of this year, and there will be some relief for downtown traffic. We will do our best to complete all remaining tunnels, bridges and roads in time, despite the technical complexity of this project," says Yuri Reylian, Transstroy's General Director.
The completed section of the road is one of the most complex transportation infrastructure facilities in Russia. With 4.2 km in total length, it includes two tunnels with combined length of 540 m, and four bridge structures with combined length of 872 m.
Tonnelny Otriad 44, one of Transstroy's leading enterprises, implemented all construction work at the Diversion Road section of Djubga-Sochi highway. Construction was commissioned by the Federal Road Agency of the Russian Federation Transportation Ministry. Most of the project research and development work was conducted by Stroyproject and Sochitranstonnelproject TO-44.
Construction of the next section of the Sochi Diversion Road will be completed by the end of 2009, also by Transstroy. The 5.2 km road will include a 540 m tunnel and bridge structures with combined length of 1,424 m.
Diversion Road is not the only major infrastructure project in the region implemented by Transstroy enterprises. Transstroy Engineering Corporation developed the project to construct the cargo area of the Sochi sea port in the mouth of Mzymta river, and launched construction in November 2008. Transstroy subsidiaries are completing the construction of Gelendzhik airport and will also participate in tenders for other transportation infrastructure construction works in Karsnodar Krai and in particular, in Sochi.
In early 2009, Basic Element's Aviation Sector will open the new terminal of the Sochi International Airport.
