Moscow Metro Reopens Elektrozavodskaya
OREANDA-NEWS On 03 December was announced, that the Moscow Metro station Elektrozavodskaya on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line was opened after reconstruction.
Since the station was closed on May 19, 2007 the escalators and their foundation set up during the Great Patriotic War have been renewed completely. The new escalators have an enhanced specification and are designed with the banisters made from stainless steel.
Besides, the station concourse above ground has been reconstructed – the facade has been renewed, the new entrance doors have been mounted, the laced bronze air grids have been restored, the granite floor surface has been substituted. From now on, Elektrozavodskaya has an increased number of ticket offices and new turnstiles as well as an up-to-date police room.
The marble bas-reliefs on the platform figuring the day-to-day activities by industrial, transport and agricultural workers have been restored, so have the original lighting fixtures in the central hall of the station. The marble surface of the platform floor has been substituted for a granite one which is more durable, however, the unique design remains.
