Scientists Use Progress M-65 for Weather Experiment
OREANDA-NEWS. December 2, 2008. Russian scientists conduct weather experiment with the help of Progress M-65 cargo vehicle. Progress M-65 turned into a scientific lab after departure from the International Space Station. The experiment carried out now with the free-flying cargo vehicle will provide the opportunity to control weather in the future, stated Vladimir Soloviev, ISS RS Flight Director, questioned by the journalists on Sunday.
"The Progress is able to perform some operations after undocking. Optical equipment is installed on the vehicle. The studies carried out now will provide the opportunity to control weather", said Soloviev. Progress M-65 undocked from the ISS on Nov. 14. Autonomous mission of the vehicle will cover s series of geophysical experiments. Mission Control Center plans to deorbit Progress M-65 on Dec. 7.
