MMKI Suspends Construction of Pulverised Coal Injection Unit
OREANDA-NEWS On 01 December was announced, that the Mariupol Illich metallurgical plant (MMKI) suspended the construction of pulverised coal injection units at blast furnaces No.1-5 due to the economic crisis.
The metallurgical plant has also suspended reconstruction of a heating plant.
Director General Volodymyr Boiko said that the plant has suspended all capital construction and reconstruction of facilities. This has resulted in the cut of between 3,500 and 4,000 jobs,
The company planned to construct pulverised coal injection units at blast furnaces No.1-5 in 2008.
The enterprise ended 2007 with a net profit of UAH 1,417.212 million.
The Illich Stal company (Mariupol) owns 90.41% of the shares in the Illich metallurgical plant OJSC.
The controlling stake of the Illich Stal company belongs to the Illich metallurgical plant organization of renters.
The Illich metallurgical plant specializes in production of rolled sheet. It also produces iron-ore sinter, open-hearth pig iron, cast and rolled slabs, seamless and welded pipes, and gas cylinders.
