Volume of Cargo Transportations in Moldova Increased by 3,6%
OREANDA-NEWS. November 27, 2008. In January-October 2008, the volume of cargo transportations by rail, auto, river and air facilities amounted 14 million 388,7 thousand tons, having increased by 3,6% in comparison with the same period of the last year.
According to the National bureau of statistics, in January-October 2008, auto transport facilities have carried 4 million 210 thousand tons of cargo or 4,8 % more than at the same period of 2007. 60,8 % of all cargo transportations were executed by Chisinau economic agents.
The volume of cargo transportations by railway has made 10 million 15,9 thousand tons, having increased by 3 % in comparison with the same period of the last year. The railway mostly transported cement and other building materials (51,6 %), black steel and scrap metal (20,8 %), grain and bakery products (8,5 %).
The volume of cargo transportations by river facilities has grown by 9 % - up to 162,1 thousand tons. At the same time, the volume of cargoes transported by air is 15,4 % less than in January-October, 2007 – 0,68 thousand tons.
