Russia and Venezuela Will Cooperate in Nuclear Energy Sector
OREANDA-NEWS. November 27, 2008. Director General of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation Sergey Kiriyenko does not think that the development cooperation between Russia and Venezuela in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy will cause concern in the world.
Venezuela has been member of the International Atomic Energy Agency since 1958 and has signed all documents concerning the development of nuclear power engineering. And there has been no single problem with that country to date.
Kiriyenko says that Rosatom has negotiated with Venezuela since 2005 and today, Nov 27 2008 the parties are planning to sign a framework agreement for support in development of legislative basis and training of personnel, for joint efforts in development of uranium deposits.
The parties are also planning to jointly prospect uranium, develop nuclear medicine and science and draft projects and take part in the construction of nuclear power plants, says Kiriyenko.
