According to a pessimistic forecast, throughput of Latvian ports undermined by crisis is not to recover before 2013-1015, Advisor to Latvia’s Minister of Communications, as saying at the Conference “How to develop transport logistics in Latvia” said. According to the forecast, negative dynamics is to be overcome by the end of 2010. Mr. Lansmanis says the crisis will have its negative impact on Latvian ports as even larger players of the market, like Hamburg, have already stated a 3-pct decrease in November cargo turnover.

According to Mr. Lansmanis, in new economic situation Latvia is able to preserve traffic of cargo traditional for national ports and even to attract new types of cargo like containers.
