Syria Is Interested in GLONASS
OREANDA-NEWS. November 24, 2008. Syria is going to use Russian global navigation system (GLONASS) for civil needs in the country.
Igor Schegolev, Russian Mass Communication and Link Minister, told journalists about it after the meeting of the Permanent Russian-Syrian Commission on trade, economical, scientific and technical cooperation.
The countries also agreed upon holding additional consultations in the first half of 2009. The negotiations will cover involvement of the Russian companies in modification of the infrastrucutre which belongs to the Syrial General Remote Sensing Organization.
Syrian representatives also stated that their country was interested in deploying GLONASS ground stations and equipment procurement.
