On November 20, 2008 The Republican Unitary Enterprise "Byelorussian Steel Works" was officially informed by the American Petroleum Institute (API) about issuance of the conformity certificate for the pipes manufactured by the enterprise in accordance with API Spec 5L with the right to apply API monogram on them, reported the press-centre of Byelorussian Steel Works.

Besides, certificates for the quality management system correspondence to API Spec. Q1, ISO/ТS 29001, ISO 9001 were issued, the press-cutting service of the enterprise informed BELTA correspondent.

API Spec. Q1 is a specification of the American Petroleum Institute for quality programmes establishing additional to ISO 9001:2000 requirements for quality management systems of organizations – suppliers of products and services to enterprises of oil, petrochemical and gas industries. Quality management system compliance is an obligatory condition for granting a license to use API monogram on the fabricated products.

The decision to issue a certificate is adopted by the American Petroleum Institute based on the results of an audit carried out at an enterprise by an API authorized representative.

Development and introduction of these requirements were executed by the staff of BMZ quality management department in close cooperation with technical departments of the enterprise without attracting consulting companies which helped the enterprise to save considerable funds. Successive certification of the enterprise will make it possible for RUE "BMZ" to make progress in the OCTG world pipe market.

American Petroleum Institute – is a US non-governmental organization carrying out investigations in the oil field including recovery, production, oversea and pipeline transportation, processing, sale and marketing. This organization is a recognized world leader in product and quality management system certification in the area of oil and gas industry.

The hot-deformed seamless pipe facility at Byelorussian Steel Works was commissioned in July 2007. Its annual capacity is approximately 250 thousand tons of pipes. They plan to export 70% of the output.

The Republican Unitary Enterprise "Byelorussian Steel Works" is an export-oriented enterprise which produce is delivered to almost 60 countries of the world. In total commodity export of the plant exceeds 87% of the total production capacity. The enterprise specializes in manufacturing cast billet, seamless pipes, structural shapes and reinforcing material, steel cord, bead wire, and hose wire. The number of the personnel of the enterprise is 13 thousand people.
