Technopromexport and Libyan African Portfolio Agree to Establish JV
OREANDA-NEWS. November 20, 2008. This agreement is the next stage of cooperation after the memorandum of mutual understanding and cooperation in the field of power engineering signed on Apr 17 2008 during the visit of Vladimir Putin to Libya. The Russian-Libyan company is supposed to build and operate power plants as well as to generate and supply electricity to seven African states.
LAPTECHNO-POWER will act as general contractor of turnkey construction projects in Libya, Uganda, Algeria, Egypt, Yemen and Namibia. The projects will be financed by Libyan African Portfolio Fund. The Fund has almost USD 6.729bln for investing in projects in African states.
“The primary projects for LAPTECHNO-POWER will be the laying of 400KV 1,250km power transmission line in Libya and the construction of 300MW water power plant on the Blue Nile in Uganda,” says a representative of Technopromexport OJSC.
Technopromexport has already completed the topographic survey for the PTL project, drafted the preliminary design and made a commercial offer for three sections (Sirt-Beni Walid-Abu Argub (380km); Tobruk-Benghazi (470km) and Tobruk-Adjabia, 400km).
