OREANDA-NEWS  On 20 November was announced, that Yuri Luzhkov, Mayor of Moscow, and Valery Shantsev, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, participated in an opening ceremony of House of Moscow in the city of Balakhna, the Nizhny Novgorod region, on November 14.

Mr Luzhkov said that House of Moscow started being developed in Balakhna a little longer than half a year ago and all the time its construction was supervised by City Hall of the Russian capital. The official noted that the builders had fulfiled their promises and thanked Mr Shantsev and the regional authorities for the assistance.

According to Mr Luzhkov, the city authorities of Moscow jointly with the officials of Balakhna are to discuss the possibility of erecting a hotel at the bank of the River Volga in the region.

Mr Shantsev in turn thanked the officials of Moscow for the collaboration and noted that the opening of House of Moscow was a joyful occasion for the inhabitants of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

“I have been the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region since 2005 and I have always been supported by Yuri Luzhkov,” Mr Shantsev added.

The governor noted that House of Moscow was to become the reference point for cultural events and recreation in Balakhna. “The complex has everything needed for it – a concert hall, a music studio, a showing room and a sports ground,” Mr Shantsev emphasized.

According to him, House of Moscow is “a good example of the collaboration between two regions of Russia.”
